Building Beloved Community:

Proposal for an Engagement Group at Derby Unitarians

I will be doing my Student Pastorate with Derby Unitarians, on the 2^nd Sunday of every month, between October 2010 and June 2011. On each date, I would like to facilitate an Engagement Group on Building Beloved Community (perhaps between 2.30 and 4.30) before some pastoral oversight time, a shared meal, and then the Service at 6.00 pm. I would like to explore aspects of Building Beloved Community:

Sunday 10^th October 2010:

Engagement group theme: Introduction to the Course, and Why I Am A Unitarian.

Service theme: Gratitude / Thanksgiving (because of Thanksgiving in USA on Monday 11^th)

Sunday 14^th November 2010:

Engagement group theme: Inner Peace

Service theme: War and Peace (because of Remembrance Sunday)

Sunday 12^th December 2010:

Engagement group theme: Guiding Stars

Service theme: Following the example of Jesus (because of Christmas)

Sunday 9^th January 2011:

Engagement group theme: The Gifts We Bring

Service theme: Wisdom (because of Epiphany)

Sunday 13^th February 2011:

Engagement group theme: Caring For Each Other

Service theme: Love (because of Valentine’s Day)

Sunday 13^th March 2011:

Engagement group theme: Sacred Space

Service theme: Contemplation / Reflection (because of Lent)

Sunday 10^th April 2011:

Engagement group theme: Sharing the Message

Service theme: Freedom & Conscience (because of GA meetings)

Sunday 8^th May 2011:

Engagement group theme: Faith in Action

Service theme: Tolerance / Acceptance

Sunday 12^th June 2011:

Engagement Group Theme: Writing a Covenant Together

Service theme: Beloved Community (because of Whitsun)
